"Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University of Iasi (TU Iasi) is classified as an advanced research and education university being accredited as a component unit of the research and development system of national interest. The activity of scientific research conducted within TU Iasi develop and complete the preparation of the students thru undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral programs. The activity of scientific research, innovation and technology transfer in various and transdisciplinary fields has materialized over the past five years in 941 research contracts won in the national competitions, as coordinator, 483 as a partner contracts, 83 contracts won in international competitions, 299 research contracts with undertakings, publication of 2087 papers in ISI journals and recording of 59 investment patents at the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks.
"Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University Iasi work as a teaching and research institution, with the mission to create and exploit scientific knowledge, to transmit knowledge to new generations, addressing in the same time, to the whole society, for the education and initial and ongoing training in the European Higher Education and Research Space, defined by the Bologna, Copenhagen and Lisbon Declaration, and promoted by the National Strategy for Higher Education in Romania, as well as to confer professional qualifications competitive on labor market.
Currently, within "Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University of Iasi act 11 universities and two departments directly subordinate to the university. In this framework are conducted undergraduate, masters, doctoral and postgraduate and continuing education and at interdependent level, scientific research.
Technical University Iasi, Romania has a significant research expertise and achievements in the dielectric/EMC field:
• Behaviour of composites under thermal and radiation aging, and the defining of a new parameter, entitled "reserve of the characteristic";
• New model to account for the equivalence between thermal endurance profile and reliability (as statistic parameter) of dielectric structures, via defining of a new parameter entitled: "accumulated thermal life";
• Novel peculiar behaviour of porous and composite structures under high frequency partial discharges, and the defining of a new method of analysis, entitled: "Broadband PD Spectroscopy";
• Advanced dielectric methods for investigating the structure and reliability of bio and nano-composites
• Nano-structured composites with predefined architecture and customised dielectric and EMC properties.
